Team FAQ

Experience the special spirit of walking as a team to help your community.  Share your enthusiasm with family, friends, and neighbors by walking as a team. Compete with other teams for pledges raised. And you can even customize your T-shirt with your team name and logo.

What do I need to do to start a team?

  • Any two or more walkers can form a team and there is no team fee.
  • Each Team Captain must register and pay their individual registration fee.
  • Each Team Member must be registered as an Individual LakeWalker for a small registration fee.  For more information on fees, please click here.
    • Each Team Member must be registered as an Individual LakeWalker walking as a member of a team and pay the registration fee. 
    • Team members can register online, by mail, or in-person.

Do I need a special packet of team information?

  • Anyone who is interested in registering a team  will be given a packet that defines team captain responsibilities, tips on building a successful team and printed materials to distribute to their team members.  The Team Packet includes: Team Captain Guide for Starting a Team, Team Captain Registration Form, Team Customized T-Shirt Order Form (for customized team logo t-shirts), Team Captain Checklist, Team Captain's Team Roster, event brochures, Individual registration forms for each team member, individual pledge envelopes for team members, Sponsor Me cards, and a team pledge envelope for collecting team members individual pledge envelopes before the walk. 
  • All registered Team Captains will receive this material.

Who registers a team?

  • Each team must have one registered individual as the Team Captain. Teams may have co-captains, but only one can be the registered team captain.  Teams register when the team captain registers and starting a team online and/or completing and submitting a Team Captain Registration Form.  Click here to download a Team Captain Registration Form

What is a Customized Team Logo T-Shirt?

  • Teams may elect to have their team T-Shirts customized with a logo on the back of the shirt.  Teams that want customized team logo T-Shirts must submit the fee of $25 and a Customized Team T-Shirt Order Form by March 17, 2010.  If a Team Captain is starting the team online, the logo fee can be paid as part of the online registration process.  If the team pays the logo fee online, the Team T-Shirt Order Form must still be completed and submitted to the OMH Foundation office by March 17, 2010. Teams cannot submit an order for more Customized Team T-Shirts than they have registered walkers.  Click here to download a Team Customized T-Shirt Order Form.

Who pays the team fee for custom shirts? 

  • The team captain is responsible for payment of the team's $25 Customized Team T-shirt Fee.   If team members wish to contribute towards the fee, they should give their contribution to the team captain.  If your team is sponsored by a company, the company may choose to pay the team shirt fee.  (Companies may also underwrite the individual registration fees of team members.)

What if our team does not want custom shirts?  

  • Team T-Shirts will be pulled for your team using the team members registration T-Shirt information.  These shirts will be packaged together for pick up by the Team Captain at either the early t-shirt pick up dates or the morning of LakeWalk. Team Captains distribute the shirts to their team members.

When is the team custom shirt order deadline?  

  • Custom team shirt orders are due by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17. 

If you have our artwork from last year, do we need to send it again?

How do we send the artwork to you? 

  • Digital artwork for your custom team shirts must be in a graphic, word or Adobe Acrobat file format.  Email to omhfoundation@phci.org by March 17.

What if I can't get digital artwork?

  • Many people submit letterhead or business cards, but these do not reproduce well.   You can submit artwork that you have, but our T-shirt vendor will determine whether or not your artwork is usable.  If your artwork will not reproduce within acceptable standards, we will contact you.

What if we want to add a team member after the shirt deadline on March 17?

  • Due to our T-shirt production timeline and processing time for teams, we're unable to add to your custom T-shirt order.  However, walkers can still join your team.  They will receive a standard LakeWalk shirt, not a customized Team T-shirt.  Any standard T-Shirts needed will be packaged with the Team's customized T-Shirts, as long as the registration is received prior to the Early T-Shirt Pick Up Day.   

When are the shirts picked up?

  • Team shirts are available for pick up by the Team Captain during Early T-Shirt Pick Up on Friday, April 18, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturday, April 19, 9 a.m.-noon, at the OMH Foundation Office.  Team Captains can also pick up their team t-shirts at Fowler Park on LakeWalk day before 9:45 a.m.  We recommend that Team Captains pick up and distribute team shirts prior to LakeWalk day, if at all possible.  If you have a question, call the Foundation office at 262-569-0222.
