Tom Constable started employment at Waukesha Memorial Hospital in 1981 and retired 25 years later in the position of Senior Vice President of Human Resources for ProHealth Care. During his tenure at the hospital Tom prided himself on keeping the hospital competitive with issues relating to employee matters, policies, procedures and benefits. His tenacity paid off as the year before Tom retired, Waukesha Memorial Hospital was voted the #3 best place to work in Wisconsin.
Tom and his wife Doreen always felt personally connected to the hospital and its future. Doreen's commitment was evident early on through her leadership in the Waukesha Service Club and more recently in WomenConnected. Both Tom and Doreen regarded the hospital and its well being as almost an extension of their family. So when in 1997, Waukesha Memorial Hospital Foundation created a recognition society to honor those who made arrangements for the hospital in their estate plans, it was something the Constable's definitely wanted to be a part of. Tom and Doreen wanted to make a significant gift, yet the reality was they were still building their retirement. Luckily, they found a gifting vehicle that allowed them to do just that... life insurance. Tom and Doreen looked at their annual gifts to the hospital and saw that they could use a portion of that money to pay for a life insurance policy on Tom. Tom and Doreen chose to make the foundation the owner and beneficiary of the policy. This allowed them to make charitable gifts to the foundation to cover the premium payments that were tax-deductible.
Pericles once said, "What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others." For more than 25 years Tom and Doreen Constable have worked in tandem to better the Waukesha Community. The legacy they leave to Waukesha Memorial Hospital is bigger than the financial contribution of a life insurance policy and is more significant than the many accomplishments Tom helped the hospital to achieve. Their legacy is truly one of compassion, care and concern for the well-being of this community.
There are several ways to make gifts using life insurance. Even the most humble gift is appreciated and provides assistance to the hospital.
