Charitable Gift Annuity

A Charitable Gift Annuity is a special way to support Waukesha Memorial Hospital Foundation, supplement your income, and receive a charitable tax deduction all at the same time!

How does a Charitable Gift Annuity work?

The Charitable Gift Annuity is a contract by which you make a gift of cash or securities in exchange for a stipulated and guaranteed rate of return. The income payments are made for life on the lives of one or two people, with no investment worries or responsibilities.

Rate of return

The rate of return you receive (ranging from 5-11.3%) is based on your age at the time of making the gift. If payments are deferred for at least one year, the rate of the return is increased.

Minimum gift amount

The minimum gift amount is $10,000, for which you receive an attractive rate of return and, at the same time, have the pleasure of making a lasting gift to Waukesha Memorial Hospital Foundation.

What are the advantages of a Charitable Gift Annuity?

  • A charitable tax deduction for the gift portion of the Gift Annuity
  • Guaranteed payments for life, for you (and another beneficiary if desired), backed up by the Foundation's assets
  • Higher rate of return than many traditional investments
  • Payments continue to the survivor beneficiary without interruption
  • Reduction in capital gains owed when funding the Gift Annuity with appreciated stock
  • Possible reduction in estate taxes
  • Your gift bypasses probate

Deferred Gift Annuities

For donors who want to make a gift and receive an immediate tax deduction, but who don't need the income right away, we also offer Deffered Gift Annuities. By deferring Gift Annuity payments for at least one year, the initial tax deduction and eventual rate of return can be much higher.
