About the Conference

Late-life anxiety symptoms and disorders are very common and frequently co-exist with depression, and medical and cognitive disorders. Anxiety disorders cause significant distress, poorer quality of life and poorer outcomes of co-morbid medical disorders. This program will briefly summarize the epidemiology of anxiety disorders, the differences between various anxiety disorders, examine the complexities of anxiety when co-morbid with other medical and psychiatric illnesses, and explore the effective treatment approaches.

About the Presenter

Joseph S. Goveas, MD is an assistant professor of Psychiatry at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is a board-certified geropsychiatrist and a clinician in the Milwaukee area. Dr. Goveas has authored many academic publications in geropsychiatry. He has received several honors and awards including being the recipient of the Medical College of Wisconsin Golden Apple Teaching Award, was a participant in the National Institute of Mental Health-supported summer research institute in geriatric psychiatry, and currently is a National Institute of Health-funded Clinical Research Scholar.

Who Should Attend

Anyone working with older adults in a care giving capacity, mental health professionals, physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists nurses, counselors, social workers, nursing home professionals, home care, adult and residential services and all of the professionals in the aging network or health and social service field working with older adults.

When You Register

Please leave enough time to meet the registration deadline notes. Registrations without payment or credit card will not be processed. If the conference is already filled, you will be notified and given a full refund. Confirmation letters with receipts of payments will be mailed to you upon receipt of payment. You will receive confirmation via e-mail with registration completed on line.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be received no later than 10 business days prior to the training date. If you cancel, you may send a substitute or receive a refund less a $35 processing fee for a full-day conference. Cancellations made after the deadline, on the day of the training, after the training has begun or failure to attend without notice of cancellation will result in a charge for the full course fee.

All participants will receive a certificate of attendance following each presentation. Please check with your individual licensing board(s) for any additional continuing education requirements. Each professional will be responsible for the individual requirements as stipulated by his or her licensing agency.
