World Class, But Close to Home

Blaine is not only up and around, he's "skiing up a storm."

Blaine Himmelman, 80, of Minneapolis is an avid snow skier. So when numb toes and leg pain kept him off the slopes, and he was told locally that nothing could be done, he looked far and wide for help.

Advanced Spectranetics technology and expert specialists at ProHealth Care's Regional Heart and Vascular Center helped Blaine get back on the slopes.

As luck would have it, a chance conversation with a fellow airline passenger led him to seek treatment with cardiologist Dr. Brian Nelson at Waukesha Memorial.

Blaine discovered that ProHealth Care's Regional Heart and Vascular Center is one of only a few places in the country with the advanced Spectranetics technology and expertise required to vaporize the blood vessel blockages in Blaine's legs. "I asked if Mayo or anyone in Minnesota is doing this procedure, and they said no," recalls Blaine.

And, since his brother Dale is also suffering from the same peripheral vascular disease, Blaine now drives his brother to Waukesha for treatment.
