Second Opinion, Genetic Testing Confirmed a Problem

Lidia feels that anyone diagnosed with breast cancer should really explore all of their options. "You don't need to take any notes, you just have to remember, if you have cancer, you go to the specialists and that's Waukesha Memorial.

As a child, Lidia Dubinski grew up in Poland. She's not used to the health care options available around here. Yet last summer, when another hospital diagnosed breast cancer, she decided to get a second opinion. And that led her to our Regional Cancer Center (RCC).

It's a long story that started with genetic testing, which was also done at our RCC. You see, Lidia has already lost her mother and one of her sisters to breast cancer. Another sister is currently being treated for it.

So, when genetic testing revealed some concerns, and an MRI confirmed a problem, Lidia found herself shopping for an oncologist, a surgeon and a plastic surgeon - all of which were introduced to her in one day at our RCC.

"Their coordinating team did everything," recalls an amazed Lidia. "I was scared and not thinking clearly, but they call around and make all the appointments and set everything up for me. Everything turned out great and I could not be happier."
