Non-invasive Treatment Option at ProHealth Care's Center for Prostate Care

When 66-year-old Ron Nerby was vacationing in Florida, his wife suggested they each attend a free health screening. Ron rolled his eyes, shrugged, and chose the PSA prostate screening. It indicated a very high reading.

Back in Wisconsin, the diagnosis was prostate cancer.

Several second opinions later, Ron found himself at ProHealth Care's Center for Prostate Care with Craig Gordon, care coordinator. "Craig explained everything about prostate cancer to me. He was so congenial, so nice, so open. Somebody at ProHealth was smart enough to put this person between the customer and all the intimidating medical stuff."

Ron's medical team -- including radiation oncology medical director Dr. Wingate Clapper and colleagues -- decided the best course of action for Ron was the leading-edge technology of the CyberKnife. Ron and Craig agreed. Ron, whose father was also diagnosed with prostate cancer, was amazed at the non-invasive capabilities of CyberKnife treatment. "It really did not affect the rest of my body," Ron said. "They say take it easy afterward, but I didn't miss a beat. I just finished a fantastic deer hunt."
