Why I joined the Council...
I had been a patient both at Waukesha Hospital and Oconomowoc Hospital and felt I could give my perspective and experiences to the Council.
What is the most important project or initiative the Council has helped to influence or has achieved during the time you've been involved?
I feel as a Council we have made some very important changes and suggestions to help the staff become more aware of needs of our patients. Such as awareness in emergency room with a dying person - only one staff should ask about donation of organs, etc.
What do you hope the Council achieves before your term is up?
Good communication with each other, meaning staff's needs also. I'm working on helping to improve the noise level on Med/Surg on p.m.'s. Also hope to see pet therapy started. More good PR for Oconomowoc Hospital.
Why would you encourage others to join the Council?
Feel more community members offer good ideas and can support the fine staff. We have to make their jobs easier and more satisfying.
What do you believe makes OMH a patient and family centered care hospital?
Attitude: If we can help our staff know that they are doing a caring and excellent job, everyone will heal much faster and feel more positive about their experience.
Is there anything else that you'd like to share?
This Council has and is listening well to each other. The mixture of staff and community members has been excellent.
