Meet Lorna Gartzke

Member, Patient & Family Advisory Council

Joined: August 2009

Why did you join the Council?

I have a love for the elderly and deal with them on a daily basis.   I wanted to join this council so that I could serve as a voice for the elderly and their health care needs.

What is the most important project or initiative the Council has helped to influence or has achieved during the time you've been involved?

The Pet Therapy program.

What do you hope the Council achieves before your term is up?

I hope that each council member serves as positive ambassador  for ProHealth  especially during this highly competitive era.

Why would you encourage others to join the Council?

It is an opportunity as a member of the community to share their thoughts and ideas to make  ProHealth the health care provider of choice.  You can also see that the ideas shared are often initiated.  Hence as a member you can feel that you are really making a difference and not just attending a meeting.

What do you believe makes OMH a patient and family centered care hospital?

Just the idea of having a Patient Family Advisory Council says a lot for OMH.    It shows they are willing to listen to all those OMH serves.   OMH really does care about this community and the surrounding communities.

Is there anything else that you'd like to share?

I am thankful for the opportunity to serve on this council.
