Meet Seth Teigen

Member, Patient & Family Advisory Council
Director, Radiology - Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital

Joined: December 2008

Why I joined the Council ...

My job transitioned in the Fall of 2008, allowing me the opportunity to lead our patient and family centered care initiatives at OMH. Part of my role is to also participate in the patient and family advisory council, helping link the work of our staff with the suggestions and work from our community members at large.

What is the most important project or initiative the Council has helped to influence or has achieved during the time you've been involved?

Theimplementation and reformatting of the Core Healing Therapies has perhaps been the most impressive project. Offering our patients alternative therapies to enhance their experience while in the hospital has had a tremendous impact on a countless number of patients.

What do you hope the Council achieves before your term is up?

Becoming a patient and family focused culture is not a sprint, it's a marathon. I hope in the coming months and years we continue to see small projects completed that have a large impact on the patient experience. My dream is for this to become who we are, not just something we do!

Why would you encourage others to join the Council?

Joining the council is a great opportunity for our community members to influence our practices as an organization. As a community based hospital we cannot be successful without the candid feedback and leadership from our patients who experience our services. The council challenges us with new ideas and innovative suggestions, making us a better place for patients and their families.

What do you believe makes OMH a patient and family centered care hospital?

I think we are constantly reinventing ourselves, implementing best practices that are suggested by our community members and patients. Our commitment to patient care and the creation of a healing environment for our patients, families and staff is something we take great pride in.
