Clinical Trials and Research

Clinical trials are research studies that explore the safety and effectiveness of new treatments. These studies can involve tests that are unique to one facility or a collaborative effort involving patients from multiple institutions.

Types of clinical trials

There typically are three types of clinical trials:

  • Patient education
  • Quality of life
  • Symptom management, treatment and genetics

In addition to sharing the data from our own studies, our doctors have access to the most current clinical research because we participate large cooperatives like the Wisconsin Oncology Network and NRG Oncology, a national organization made up of three leading research groups: National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project, Radiation Therapy Oncology Group and the Gynecologic Oncology Group.
