ProHealth Care's United Way Day of Caring

Option #1: Wednesday, September 18, 2019

8 to 9 a.m.   -   Campaign training & light refreshments

9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.   -   Volunteer experience

All ProHealth leaders are invited to enjoy a morning of volunteering at various United Way organizations in our community. Day of Caring will begin at 8 a.m. with campaign training and breakfast. Participating leaders will have the option to gather in the Treiber education center at ProHealth Waukesha Memorial Hospital or at the YMCA in Mukwonago.

If you cannot make this date, please note the details below regarding the alternative date, Friday, September 27, 2019.

To register for a volunteer experience on September 18, choose one of the following options.

 

Sprucing Up - La Casa's Center for Financial Stability

Help their facilities remain welcoming, safe and comfortable for the individuals and families they serve. Assist with gardening, painting and clean-up projects.

Preparing for Family Fun Night - La Casa's Charter School

La Casa's Charter School needs your help! Assist in making sensory and math materials for classrooms, help sort books, organize art materials and get items prepared for their Family Fun Night.

Grounds Cleaning - West Suburban YMCA (Wauwatosa)

Assist in cleaning the grounds, doing yard work, and dismantling four large tents. They also need assistance moving picnic tables and cleaning up supplies in the camp office.

Sorting Clothes - HOPE Center

The HOPE Center's Clothing Shop provides free clothing to Waukesha County residents in need. Help sort donated clothing and get the items ready for shoppers.

Holiday Giftwrapping and Card Creation - NAMI

Design and create cards, prepare treat bags and wrap presents. Volunteers are asked to bring wrapping paper and treats for the goodie bags.

Sorting and Organizing Donations - Easter Seals

Volunteers will sort and organize donations, and help clean their storage space.

Harvest and Field Prep - HOPE Center's Green Power Garden

The Hope Center provides a safe environment for the homeless and other clients in need. Have fun harvesting late crops and preparing the fields for next year.

Food Sorting - Feeding America (Milwaukee)

Assist with sorting, boxing up, and labeling food items.

Assembling Patient Packets - Sixteenth Street Clinic in Waukesha

Help assemble materials for patient packets at Sixteenth Street.

Painting - Waukesha YMCA

Help refresh the YMCA by painting locker rooms and the lower level.

Refreshing the Born Learning Trail - Miniwaukan Park (Mukwonago)

Refresh the Born Learning Trail stencils and help landscape at Miniwaukan Park.

Trail Clean-Up - Lake Country Trail (Oconomowoc)

Help maintain and protect a segment of the Lake Country Trail.

 


Option #2: Friday, September 27, 2019

8 to 9 a.m.  -  Campaign training & light refreshments

9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  -  Volunteer experience

If you are unable to make the September 18, 2019 Day of Caring event, you have the opportunity to participate in the alternate date on September 27, 2019. Campaign training and breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. Participating leaders will have the option to gather in the 3rd Floor Conference Room of the UW Cancer Center at ProHealth Care or the Conference Center at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital.

To register for a volunteer experience on September 27, choose one of the following options.

 

Yard Work and Garden Clean-up - YMCA at Pabst Farms

The Community Garden at the YMCA at Pabst Farms helps provide fresh produce to our local food pantry. Volunteers will assist with all aspets of gardencleanup and other yard work.   

Cabin Painting at Camp Whitcomb/Mason (Hartland) - The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee

Help re-paint the exterior of the Menomonee cabin.

Deep Clean the Gymnastics Center - Waukesha YMCA

Provide deep cleaning of the YMCA's gymnastics center.

Sorting Clothes - HOPE Center

The HOPE Center's Clothing Shop provides free clothing to Waukesha County residents in need. Help sort donated clothing and get the items ready for shoppers.

Closing Down Summer Camp - Camp Double Eagle

Help close down Camp Double Eagle after another successful summer! Activities include packing supplies, cleaning out the counselor and art houses, raking leaves and more!

 

Yard Clean-up at Multiple Homes - ERAs

Come help older adults and adults with disabilities get their homes and yards ready for the season ahead!

Deep Cleaning - The Women's Center
 

The Women's Center needs your help with a "deep clean" of their commons and shelter spaces.

Painting - Waukesha YMCA

Help refresh the YMCA by painting locker rooms and the lower level.
