Medical/Surgical

  • 2 South West - 2 SW is a 16-room unit (29 patients maximum) specializing in digestive and medical conditions of the stomach, colon and intestines.  The unit has full telemetry capabilities and is a designated NICHE (Nurses Improving Care for the Hospitalized Elderly) unit in the hospital.
  • 2 North West - 2 NW is 38-bed, all-private room, heart care unit with a special focus on pre- and post-cardiac procedure patients.  The Heart Care Unit is a very fast-paced, high-acuity unit with frequent admissions, discharges, and transfers.  Nurses are ACLS certified and take pride in high patient satisfaction scores.  The Heart Care Unit's 2009, 2nd quarter score is 97%.
  • 4 North West - 4 NW is a 31-bed unit comprised of all private rooms providing nursing care to orthopedic patients.  Our patients include adult post-surgical patients recovering from orthopedic procedures including hip replacements, knee replacements, and shoulder surgeries.
  • 4 East -  4 East is a 15-bed unit comprised of all private rooms providing nursing care to medical and post-surgical neurological patients.
  • 4 South West - 4 SW is a 25-bed medical/surgical unit providing care to orthopedic, cardiac, gynecological, neurological and oncology patients and is a designated NICHE (Nurses Improving Care for the Hospitalized Elderly) unit in the hospital.
  • 5 Medical - 5 Medical is a 53-bed unit providing care to patients with a primary medical diagnosis.  5 Medical cares for patients with a diagnosis of pneumonia, sepsis, detox, and sepsis.  Patients on the unit may be step-down ventilator patients or in isolation.

Critical Care

  • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit - The Waukesha Memorial Hospital NICU is a 22-bed level 2 and 3 NICU caring for newborns in a high-tech and compassionate setting.
  • Intensive Care Unit - The ICU is a multi-specialty unit including cardiovascular, neuro-surgical, medical respiratory, sepsis, overdose, and a variety of surgical patients.  The 24-bed trauma unit cares for pediatric to adult patients.

1 South East - 1 SE is our inpatient mental health unit with 22 semi-private beds providing nursing care to adult and geriatric psychiatry patients and inpatient detox services. 

2 North - 2 North is a 17 bed, all-private room, specialized unit providing holistic care for adult oncology patients.  The unit provides resources including message therapy, guided imagery, and Rekki therapy. 

Emergency Department - The 34 room, level-3 trauma center provides care to patients of all ages with all medical and surgical complaints.  The department supports victims of sexual abuse with specially trained sexual assault nurse examiners.  The hospital currently provides medical control to 23 Emergency Medical System (EMS) services in 4 counties: Waukesha, Walworth, Jefferson and Racine counties providing cares for approximately 42,000 patients annually.

GI Lab - The GI lab consists of 8 procedure rooms, including 1 for fluoroscopy procedures and 1 negative air room for bronchoscopy procedures.  Complex GI procedures including therapeutic ERCP's, endoscopic ultrasounds, and electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopies are performed.

Obstetrics - The OB unit consists of 33 LDRP and 10 GYN beds handling approximately 180 deliveries each month.  The unit cares for high-risk obstetrics and antepartum patients.  Addition services include childbirth education courses, lactation consultation and "Resolve Through Sharing" facilitators.

Outpatient Department - The 14 room Outpatient Department has a joint venture agreement with General Vascular Group.  In addition to minor surgical procedures, many wound care and infusion patients are seen in the department each day.

Pediatrics - Waukesha Memorial Hospital's 8-bed pediatric department provides general care for patients up to 18 years of age.  Specifically, the unit cares for patients needing bilirubin treatments, orthopedic care, respiratory ailments, GI, asthma, and trauma.  All of the pediatric staff is cross-trained to provide care in the NICU.

Surgery - The 16 room surgical department at Waukesha Memorial performs a variety of surgical procedures, focusing on open heart surgery, neurosurgery, bariatric surgery, robotic surgery, minimally invasive and other cutting-edge surgical procedures to more than 20,000 patients annually.
