ProHealth Home Care receives high marks for quality of care

ProHealth Home Care has achieved a rating of 4.5 for quality of patient care from the federal government’s Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, known as CMS.

“A 4.5 CMS star rating puts ProHealth Home Care in an elite category of home health agencies based on quality of care,” said Maria Hill, vice president of care management and post-acute care for ProHealth.

“The ratings provide a transparent way for people to compare providers and see that our home care services exceed state and national ratings for patient care.”

The star ratings are calculated using patient outcome-based quality improvement data gathered and analyzed by CMS. The data were collected from Jan. 1, 2016, through Dec. 31, 2016.

A five-star CMS rating is the highest level possible. A 4.5 CMS star rating is currently the highest level achieved by home health agencies in Wisconsin. The current average CMS star rating for home health quality of care in Wisconsin is 3.5 stars. The national average is three stars.

The ratings summarize how well home health agencies perform when compared with each other on nine patient care measures. The metrics are associated with management of daily activities, pain and symptom management, prevention of harm and prevention of unplanned hospital care.

ProHealth Home Care also received four stars, an above-average CMS star rating, based on its home health agency patient feedback survey. The anonymous patient survey asks a number of questions designed to measure patients’ perceptions of the care they received. The survey also asks patients to rate the overall care they received and whether they would recommend the home health agency to friends and family.
