ProHealth Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital's NICU provides specialized neonatal care

ProHealth Care's Level II neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at ProHealth Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital provides specialized round-the-clock care for babies who are delivered at 32 weeks or more, weigh 1,500 grams or more, and have short-term health needs.

Neonatal care at the hospital is provided by a team of professionals including neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners.

“We’re please to provide care for younger and smaller infants along with their mothers at Oconomowoc Memorial,” said Megan Anderson, director of Women’s Services for ProHealth Care. “We know how important a NICU and 24/7 on-site specialty care is to families making choices about obstetric care.”

ProHealth Waukesha Memorial Hospital has the only Level III neonatal intensive care unit in Waukesha County. Level III NICU capabilities include comprehensive care for infants born as early as 22 weeks of gestation, who weigh less than 1,500 grams, and who need additional, longer-term, specialized care.

Babies born at Oconomowoc Memorial who require Level III NICU care can be seamlessly transported to Waukesha Memorial via a specially equipped ambulance staffed by the ProHealth NICU team.
