A concussion is a mild traumatic brain injury. Common causes are auto accidents, sports injuries and falls. Loss of consciousness, balance issues, vision problems, headache or neck pain may result. If a head injury occurs, a neurological exam should be performed in an emergency room. People with a concussion usually recover over time with rest. Medications, physical or speech therapy may be prescribed. Head injuries are largely preventable. Keep yourself safe.
