Cardiac Emergencies

Feb 25, 2018

Peter Dionisopoulos, MD, Cardiologist

Heart attack occurs when blood flow to the heart is blocked. Symptoms include pressure or tightness in the chest, shortness of breath, nausea, dizziness or loss of consciousness. With each minute, heart muscle dies. National guidelines recommend blood flow be restored within 90 minutes of arrival at a hospital. At ProHealth Care, the average is 59 minutes and all patients fall below the guideline. Heart attack is a medical emergency. Always call 911.
