Research Special Topic Series
What is the Special Topics Series?
This series is created by the Research Institute as a forum for PHC researchers to receive and exchange information on the current topics that influence the development, operation and regulation of research activity at ProHealth Care. The Series meetings are not intended to handle or resolve detailed or day-to-day operational research matters.
Who should attend?
We are inviting interested principal investigators, research coordinators, regulatory compliance staff and other staff involved in research at PHC to attend the Series. We will make every attempt to arrange Special Topics that match the interests of this diverse audience.
What types of topics will be presented?
A broad array of topics relevant to research design and methodology, program advancement, study accrual strategies, research revenue and expense management, human safety, and regulatory compliance will be presented. We will place special emphasis on "hot topics" that highlight important changes in research industry policies, procedures, etc. that will directly impact those conducting research at PHC.
Who will present the Special Topics?
We envision some diversity in presenters based on the topic, including Research Institute staff, principal investigators and research coordinators or staff here at PHC, and invited guests from outside the PHC system, as possible.
When and where will the Series take place?
The current plan is for the Series to take place from 12:00-1:00 pm on Tuesdays at Waukesha Memorial Hospital (in various conference rooms to be determined based on availability for each meeting). We may adjust the time and place as necessary to maximize attendance and convenience for those interested in attending. Starting out, we have scheduled a busy slate with weekly session over the first couple of months to gain momentum with the Series. We'll see how this goes and then adjust the frequency of meetings as appropriate going forward.
How will these meetings be structured?
Each meeting will be approximately one hour in duration, during which there will be a brief, high-level update from the Research Institute, lengthier presentation on specific topic(s) relevant to clinical research, and time for discussion by attendees. Lunch will not be provided, but we encourage people to bring their lunch and treat this as a traditional "brown bag" series.
We hope you will join us for future sessions of the Research Special Topics Series. If you have questions please contact the Research Institute at research.institute@phci.org or (262)928-3447.
