ProHealth Care offers therapy to our patients who have specific concerns about the hand and arm. The goal of hand therapy is to assist the patient in regaining full use of the hand and arm after surgery or injury. Our skilled and experienced therapy staff engage in continuing education so our patients can receive the most up-to-date treatment possible.
Conditions treated by our therapists include:
- Cumulative Trauma Disorders
- Carpal tunnel Syndrome
- Trigger finger
- Injury / laceration of a tendon
- Fractures / dislocations of the fingers, hand, wrist , forearm or elbow
- Scar management
- Soft tissue or "crush" injuries
- Nerve injuries
- Reflex Sympathetic Distrophy
- Management of swelling
Therapists work closely with the physician and patient to develop a treatment plan that best helps the patient reach his or her goals.
Treatment programs may include: thermal modalities, splinting /bracing, Myofascial Release, range of motion and strengthening exercises, taping and wrapping, edema management, activites of daily living training, instruction in joint protection and use of adapted equipment and coordination training.
