Our goal is to care for you with excellent service, respect and compassion. This information is provided to help you know what to expect during your visit to the Emergency Department.
Your experience in the Emergency Department begins with a process called triage, in which a nurse evaluates your medical needs. The word "triage" is from a French word that means "to sort." The triage process makes sure all patients who come to the Emergency Department get the care they need when they need it.
The care provided in the Emergency Department is designed to make sure that patients with the most critical health needs get cared for first. This means that patients who arrived in the Emergency Department after you may be taken back to be cared for before you. If you are waiting and you start to feel worse, please let the triage nurse know. Please be assured that your health is very important to us and your needs will be met as soon as possible.
Once you are in a treatment room, you will be assigned a nurse as well as a physician or a physician assistant or a nurse practitioner who will work together to provide your care. Please let us know at any time how we can help make your visit more comfortable.
We will work closely with you to include family and friends in your care. We may need to limit the number of visitors in the exam room based on your condition and the size of the room.
Based on your needs and the results of any tests, you will either be discharged with instructions for taking care of yourself at home or you will be admitted to the hospital.
If you have questions or concerns while at the hospital, feel free to share them with your nurse or physician, or use the call button at any time. If you have questions or would like to share your comments after you've been to our Emergency Department, please call us:
