If You Suffer from Barrett's Esophagus, a New Treatment Option has Arrived

ProHealth Care now offers Barrx Halo to help those with Barrett's Esophagus. This new treatment eliminates pre-cancerous cells with radiofrequency ablation before they become invasive cancer.

About 3.3 million Americans have Barrett's Esophagus, a condition in which the tissue lining the esophagus is replaced by tissue that is similar to the lining of the intestine. No symptoms are associated with Barrett's esophagus, but it is commonly found in people with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

About 1 in every 200 people with Barrett's Esophagus will develop esophageal cancer.

Who's at Risk?

Obese people are at risk because belly fat puts pressure on the esophagus. Also at risk are those with high-grade dysplasia, which means that cells in the esophagus are changing to resemble cancer cells.
