Our services

ProHealth Care's premier Stroke / TIA Clinic's purpose is to educate our community about stroke risk / prevention for a healthy lifestyle. This includes a Joint Commission-certified Primary Stroke Center, the first in Waukesha County and, the only one in Dodge, Jefferson and Walworth Counties that will follow your care from the Emergency Department to inpatient care, to rehab, to our outpatient clinic and back home.

Our services include the tPA administered locally or by IV to dissolve clots and carotid stenting as well as the full range of neurosurgery. We provide fully coordinated care for optimal recovery, keeping your needs the center of our focus.

  • Waukesha Memorial and Oconomowoc Memorial Hospitals received the Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission, as a primary stroke center, an honor that certifies that our hospitals are nationally recognized to deliver the highest quality care to stroke patients.  
  • As a Primary Stroke Center, ProHealth Care follows guidelines published by the American Stroke Association/American Heart Association and follows Joint Commission disease-specific care standards.
  • In 2010, Waukesha Memorial Hospital received the American Stroke Association's Get With the Guidelines (GWTG) Gold Performance Plus Award while Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital received the Silver Performance Plus Award.  These awards signify both hospitals' commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of stroke care and meeting the requirements of the GWTG stroke program.  In addition, both hospitals were recognized at the International Stroke Conference, held in February 2010 in Texas, for outstanding stroke programs.

Our specialized, experienced care team

  • Our Emergency Department staff and physicians are specially trained in the care and treatment of stroke patients and are skilled in administering rt-PA, the clot-busting medication that can reduce the effect of stroke.
  • Our specialists work together to provide you with timely, expert care. Our team consists of specialists from neurology, emergency medicine, neurosurgery, interventional neuroradiology, neuropsychology, physiatry, PT, OT, speech therapy and a dedicated nurse coordinator who collaborate to achieve the best possible outcomes.   • Nurses with intensive neuroscience training provide care 24 / 7 in the emergency department, intensive care unit, inpatient neurological and rehabilitation units.
