Sun Shines on Crowd at AngelsGrace Hospice

One hundred white balloons with personal messages attached were released into a brilliant blue sky as part of AngelsGrace Hospice’s Hike for Hospice, Raffle and Boardwalk Celebration on Aug. 27.

A crowd of approximately 300 people gathered for the annual outdoor event that builds awareness of hospice care, gathers the community and patient families and raises funds for AngelsGrace Hospice.

Participants were treated to live music, tractor rides, carnival games, clowns, a magician as well as a picnic lunch and ice cream social. The balloon release, one of the highlights of the day, is also an annual rededication of the hospice’s Robert C. James Memorial Boardwalk,  a 300-foot, wheelchair-accessible boardwalk that skirts the pond on the hospice grounds.

The day concluded with the Hike raffle drawing.  The grand prize, one week’s use of a Florida condo, was won and returned to the hospice for use in the upcoming On Angels Wings Dinner and Auction fundraiser on Sept. 24.  The second prize golf package winner is Jean Muehleck of Oconomowoc. Third prize of $250 was won by Sharon Miksic of Oconomowoc. Fourth prize, a custom-designed angel necklace, was won by Jean Wilkinson of Oconomowoc, and fifth prize, a dine-around package, was won by Jean Schultz of East Troy.

In addition, the ensemble of Debbie and Tim Michelic, Torey Prichard and Bob Davenport provided music, clowns Smiles, Chuckles and Miller supplied lots of fun and Mike Miller performed magic for the crowd.
