ProHealth Care Regional Cancer Center
Award Winning Cancer Care, Close to Home
"The new treatments give patients real hope. Real hope casts out fear and chases worry from the corners of one's mind. The people who were at the Center were fun to deal with and in the course of the week of treatments, they became almost like family. We would talk and share humorous comments each day we met, just like old friends. They cared. Caring casts out fear." -- William P., Oconomowoc
It's true. At ProHealth Care's Regional Cancer Center, you're not just a "case" to us; you're a person, a friend. We'll help inspire courage, reassurance and strength so that you feel empowered to deal with the challenges ahead.
Our patients have access to some of the most experienced specialists and the most sophisticated diagnostic and treatment technology at the Regional Cancer Center: technology normally found only at large academic research centers. These high-tech tools, in the skilled hands of our widely experienced and respected specialists, give our patients the best hope of beating cancer.
Our compassionate care is coupled with a national reputation for excellence and research. The Regional Cancer Center at Waukesha Memorial is among only 14 hospitals in the nation to receive a grant from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to expand our cancer research program, supportive care services and provide state-of-the-art cancer care to underserved populations.
The Regional Cancer Center's award-winning care also includes:
- The 2009 Community Service Award from the Wisconsin Cancer Council. ProHealth Care's Regional Cancer Center earned the award for providing free colorectal, skin and prostate cancer screenings to 1,123 community members in 2008. The Regional Cancer Center was also recognized for providing free screenings to 10,000 community members since 1997.
- ProHealth Care's Center for Breast Care is accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons, and is the only NAPBC accredited center in Waukesha County. As a NAPBC accredited breast center, patients have access to:
- Comprehensive care, including a full range of state-of-the-art services
- A multidisciplinary team approach to coordinate the best treatment options
- Information about ongoing clinical trials and new treatment options
- Quality breast care close to home
- The Center for Prostate Care is one of only five cancer programs selected to participate in the Association of Community Cancer Centers' (ACCC'S) Prostate Cancer "Best Practices" project.
- Recognition as one of the most successful community-based oncology clinical research programs in the country for enrolling a record number of patients in cancer clinical and prevention trials.
- The Regional Cancer Center was the first network-accredited program in Wisconsin and was further distinguished by earning the 2007 Outstanding Achievement Award from the Commission on Cancer - the only recipient in Southeast Wisconsin to repeat the honor since 2004.

Why choose us for cancer care?
Sophisticated technology
Better technology equals better outcomes. ProHealth Care's Regional Cancer Center has invested in the most advanced technology, normally found only at large academic research facilities. This means that our patients have access to high-tech diagnostic and treatment capabilities, including CyberKnife -- one of less than 200 in the world. We also offer robotic surgery, sophisticated imaging, advanced radiosurgery capabilities and more.
A team approach
Our team approach to care includes medical and radiation oncologists, surgeons, pathologists, radiologists and other physician specialists, care coordinators and a dedicated team of nurses. Your case will be reviewed at a multidisciplinary conference offering multiple second opinions at one time by physicians from a variety of medical specialties.
Innovative treatment planning
Our expert team will develop a comprehensive care plan for the health of your body, mind and spirit. We will listen to you and find the most comprehensive, advanced traditional treatment options combined with complementary therapies tailored to meet your needs and beat your particular type of cancer.
Clinical research trials
At the Regional Cancer Center, we realize that research is an important weapon in the fight against cancer. Based on the high quality of our program, we are often invited to participate in national research studies and clinical trials established by the National Cancer Institute. Our physicians offer patients the opportunity to participate in these research initiatives. This gives patients the opportunity to receive the most advanced, clinically approved treatments available. Research also allows patients and the Regional Cancer Center to share in the ultimate goal of preventing cancer and discovering optimum treatment approaches.
Convenience
With locations in Waukesha, Oconomowoc, and Mukwonago , ProHealth Care's Regional Cancer Center is where your neighbors go for outstanding cancer care that's close to home.
