The Epworth Sleepiness Scale was developed by researchers in Australia and is used by sleep professionals around the world to measure sleep deprivation. The scale provides a way for professionals to rank the severity of your sleep disorder.
How likely are you to doze off or fall asleep during certain activities? Even if you haven't done some of these things recently, imagine how they would affect you.
Once you have your number, find out what sleep category you fall into below:
0-8 Normal Sleep Function – This means that you are an average sleeper and you are getting enough sleep at night. Keep up the good work!!
8-15 Moderate Daytime Somnolence – Borderline to average sleeper. You should maybe consult a physician. If you scored in the lower half of this section you are an average sleeper, however if you scored in the upper half of this section you may want to consult a physician as you might be at risk for a sleep disorder.
15-24 High Likelihood of Daytime Somnolence – Should See a sleep physician The likelihood that you may have a sleep disorder is pretty high considering where you scored on this test. You should definitely consult with a physician regarding this score.
Please Note – The Epworth Sleepiness Scale is not a self-diagnosis tool. Instead, it is intended to provide sleep disorder patients with information and basic awareness of their sleeping habits.
