ProHealth Care First in Wisconsin to Offer Patients

New Discovery PET/CT Imaging

WAUKESHA, WI – ProHealth Care announces that Waukesha Memorial Hospital is the first hospital in Wisconsin to provide patient imaging on the groundbreaking Discovery PET/CT 690 system. This #1 scanner on the market today features advanced technology that can transform the way cancer, neurological disorders and heart disease are diagnosed and treated.

“The innovations of the new Discovery 690 take ProHealth Care to a new level of care for cancer and other diseases,” says radiologist Gregory Francken, M.D. “The technology enhances physicians’ ability to see more so that we can more precisely diagnose and stage diseases, compare change and monitor progression of diseases — ultimately helping us make better decisions in treating our patients. We are excited to put this technology to work for the residents of Waukesha and our surrounding communities.”

The new system incorporates the next generation in high-definition reconstruction, which means improved disease delectability — doctors can diagnose and stage diseases with accuracy, plan with precision and monitor with confidence. It also provides superior resolution with reliable image quality, even in large patients. This new PET/CT system also has the potential to dramatically lower dose requirements, including up to 80% reduction in cardiac studies.

Discovery 690 PET/CT also offers a comfortable scanning experience with shorter breath holds and faster exams. It can image static organs in just one second, the lung in just two seconds and the whole body in less than 10 seconds.

The system’s remarkable technology gives physicians vast information about the results of their treatment planning, versus standalone PET or CT. By knowing sooner if a particular course of treatment is working, physicians can switch to a more effective treatment if needed. While this powerful diagnostic tool will be used initially for cancer patients, future plans call for expanding capabilities to include heart and neurological imaging studies.
