10 Ways to Be Smart for Your Heart

Keep your heart beating strong.  ProHealth Care’s Regional Heart & Vascular Center encourages you to consider these important points for a strong and healthy heart:

 

  1. Know your numbers (HDL, LDL, total cholesterol, triglycerides, blood pressure, blood glucose).
  2. If you smoke, QUIT, and avoid second-hand smoke.
  3. Exercise 30 minutes per day most days of the week. Find our your BMI by taking the Adult Body Mass Index Quiz.
  4. Know your family history/genetics.
  5. East a diet rich in vegetables and include healthy fats. View heart healthy reciepes.
  6. Find healthy ways to manage stress, such as yoga, walking or meditation.
  7. Sleep 7-8 hours each night.
