October 01, 2008
In July, Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital held a ceremony and reception to commemorate the original 1952 hospital building that is being replaced as part of the renovation project currently underway. There have been many additions and changes to Oconomowoc Memorial since it first opened, and the hospital and community are continuing their longstanding partnership on the current renovation project that will renew the facility and enhance the patient experience.
The hospital's Patient and Family Centered Care committee, comprised of local residents, has been integrally involved and provided input for its design. The renovation includes a new inpatient tower, dining area, conference space, facility upgrades and green elements, such as roof gardens. The inpatient tower will have 58 private patient rooms with private bathrooms and space for a family member to stay overnight with the patient. Each floor will have large family waiting lounges with kitchenettes and shower rooms for family members to use.
