ProHealth Care Named One of Southeastern Wisconsin's Top Workplaces

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has named ProHealth Care one of Southeastern Wisconsin's Top 100 Workplaces 2010. ProHealth Care was honored in the Large Companies division (500 employees or more).

The Journal Sentinel invited workers to nominate their employers, and enlisted the help of workplace consulting firm WorkplaceDynamics to survey tens of thousands of workers in the region. The result is a fascinating and diverse list of organizations, large and small, that are finding creative and exciting ways to engage and retain employees.

The ultimate goal of this process, the Journal Sentinel reports, is to highlight some of the best practices that others may want to consider adopting.

In the Journal Sentinel's special section featuring the Top 100 Workplace winners, ProHealth Care was featured specifically for several small gestures that make a big impact on employees:

  • The chime that rings at Waukesha Memorial when a child is born. "It makes you think about the miracle of life," said Nadine Guirl, senior vice president of human resources for ProHealth Care. "And I'll tell you that people listen to the chime and smile."
  • A four-day program - Rekindling and Affirming Your Spirit, or RAYS - to help employees reconnect with their spiritual side. The goal is for people to step back from their day-to-days lives and gain perspective, all on company time.

Tasha Sledge, manager of human resources for ProHealth Care Medical Associates, sums it up well: If you want a caring culture that focuses on patients, you must create a caring culture for employees.
