About me

Philosophy of care

“A cancer diagnosis can be a stressful time for patients and their families. It involves processing a large amount of new information and making big decisions in a short amount of time. I enjoy spending time getting to know patients and their families so I can help them through this process. Through education, counseling and understanding what is important to each patient, I can create care plans based on their individual needs.”

Provider was kind, understanding and caring. This provider is a specialty provider, whom I see once a year for a recheck. This is not my General Practitioner.

Dr. Bishop provided excellent care. She help me understand a delicate condition and made me feel comfortable discussing it. She was relaxed and not rushing, straight forward, and allowed plenty of opportunities for questions. I left her office comfortable and not fearful of my condition.

I was first seen by a PA. I did not expect this .I was later informed that was usual with a high volume of patients. After stating I only wanted to see Dr bishop, my wait was 40 minutes.

During the "how are you" portion of the appointment, at one point I felt like she was making fun of me regarding playing sports. Then, a little too rough with the speculum. It was unnecessarily uncomfortable, a burning painful sensation. I am not interested in any more appointments where I feel I am being made fun of and then treated roughly in such a private personal place in my body. I was told to make the one year follow up appointment, but I will cancel it. It's been 5 years of 6 month appointments that I do not believe actually accomplish anything medically. My cancer was self contained in my uterus, and for that, I lost my uterus, my ovaries, my fallopian tubes, my cervix and a lympnode. Spending 3 seconds checking the inside of my vagina with a metal speculum isn't going to actually find anything cancerous. I am done.
