About me

Philosophy of care

“Helen Keller felt her hearing loss was more devastating than her blindness because it isolated her from people rather than things. My goal is to provide the highest quality diagnostic and rehabilitative service to patients who are struggling with hearing and communication difficulty. Understanding the impact of individual hearing loss on everyday living is essential in educating patients to make informed decisions about their hearing health care.”

Dr. Nelson suggested I get a newer hearing aid - at THIS time I have chosen not to. I will make the hearing aid I have now work... make do.

Dr. Nelson was wonderful, she carefully listened and explained options and medical expertise to help me understand what might be causing my symptoms. She went above and beyond to provide me with in-depth knowledge most specialists don't do. I would highly recommend her to anyone needing an audiologist.

This was a hearing test and I think it would have been a lot easier without having to wear a mask in the testing booth. I heard my own breathing more than the sounds I was testing with.

Dr. Nelson is my audiologist. She has been my Dr. for many years. I trust her. She has helped me immensely, with my hearing loss. When asked by anyone about my hearing loss, I always recommend her.

I was disappointed in the summary explanation and guidance on addressing my hearing reduction/loss. I didn't fully understand why I needed a hearing aid for both ears. The experience felt like going to a car dealership where different options were suggested. It didn't make sense to me to use my Iphone to increase the volume in the hearing aids when I could just a simply turn up the volume of device (radio, TV, etc). I also didn't understand the hearing aid options to ensure the device remained fixed to my ear while playing sports (pickleball, basketball, baseball, etc.). The answer given was to use a headband that would hold the earing aid in place behind the ear. I felt this answer was absurd and I have never seen anyone with this kind of configuration. The chart was not well explained and I was uncertain of where an average person of my age would be in terms of hearing loss. I was glad to have the baseline test performed and now have something for future comparison as I realize my hearing will degrade over time.

I accidentally showed up at the incorrect time. I was extremely early, but they squeezed me in! Yet she still listened to my medical concerns which prompted the visit. I didn't feel rushed.
