Cancer second opinion program

ProHealth Care offers a second opinion program to help you better understand your cancer diagnosis and options before making care decisions. Appointments are available at our cancer centers in Mukwonago, Oconomowoc and Pewaukee.

Understand your options before making cancer treatment decisions

If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with cancer, a second opinion can help you better understand the diagnosis, confirm your treatment options and feel more confident about your next steps.

At ProHealth Care, our medical oncology team offers timely second opinion consultations for patients who want additional guidance before beginning or continuing cancer treatment.

What to expect

Second opinion appointments are scheduled with the next available medical oncologist at the next available location to ensure timely access. This approach allows us to see most patients within two business days. If you prefer a specific physician or location, we will do our best to accommodate your request, but it may be longer before you can be seen.

Before your appointment, a cancer or oncology nurse navigator will contact you to help coordinate your care. When you arrive at a cancer center, your second opinion consultation will include:

  • A one-hour visit with a medical oncologist.
  • Review of your diagnosis and recommended treatment plan.
  • Time to ask questions and talk through your options.
  • Discussion about any additional imaging, lab work or testing that may be helpful.

After your visit, our nurse navigator will follow up to help answer your questions and offer additional support.
