Coping with the emotional challenges of cancer
A cancer diagnosis can significantly impact the emotional well-being of patients and their loved ones. Cancer counselors offer individual and group support to help patients, families and caregivers navigate the emotional challenges that can come with cancer. If you are newly diagnosed, in treatment or adjusting to life after treatment, counseling services are available to support you.
Counseling support can make a difference
You may benefit from speaking with a counselor if you are experiencing:
- Anxiety, stress or difficulty coping with a cancer diagnosis.
- Grief, loss or changes to your sense of normalcy.
- Challenges adjusting during or after treatment.
- Concerns about how cancer is affecting your family.
- Uncertainty about how to talk with children or loved ones about cancer.
Counseling services include:
- Individual counseling sessions, virtually or in person at all three of our cancer centers.
- Support groups for patients, caregivers and families.
- Workshops focused on coping, grief and enhancing emotional well-being.
- Access to a lending library with books and resources related to cancer, coping and emotional support.
Connect with a counselor
Patients and their family members or caregivers can meet with a counselor upon request. No referral is needed. Contact the patient’s oncology nurse navigator or any member of their care team to get connected.
