Woman receiving hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy

Help chronic wounds heal naturally with hyperbaric oxygen therapy at ProHealth Care.

What is hyperbaric oxygen therapy?

During hyperbaric oxygen therapy, you breathe in 100 percent oxygen while lying inside a pressurized chamber. This helps your blood carry extra oxygen to your damaged organs and tissue, which can speed up healing and recovery time.

What to expect during therapy

When you arrive for hyperbaric oxygen therapy, you’ll change into a gown and robe provided by your care team.

Then, you’ll lie down in a comfortable, movable bed that slides into a clear tube-shaped chamber. You’ll lie in the chamber and breathe normally. You may feel a little pressure in your ears – similar to flying in an airplane – as the air pressure changes in the chamber.

You cannot take books or electronics into the chamber, but you may listen to music or watch TV or a movie through the chamber window. You’re also welcome to take a nap.
