Work begins on an integrated surgical services project at Waukesha Memorial
Work will soon begin to bring surgical teams, services and resources together in an integrated space on the first floor of ProHealth Waukesha Memorial Hospital. The construction project will proceed in phases over the next three years to minimize the impact on service delivery.
When complete in early 2028, the integrated surgical services project will include:
- Twelve new operating rooms built using a clean core format, meaning they will be grouped around a central area where sterile supplies are stored, enhancing infection control.
- An updated hybrid operating room that includes an advanced imaging system and space for larger teams to work on complex cases.
- Twenty additional private prep and recovery rooms serving surgery, same-day surgery, cardiac catheterization and interventional radiology patients.
- Two additional multi-purpose procedure rooms.
- The project will also involve renovation of the endoscopy lab on the lower level of the hospital. This work will include the GI procedure rooms, prep and recovery area, and related space.
To gain the space required to integrate procedural services, general X-ray and imaging services will move to a new location, near the west entrance. A third CT scanner will be added to the imaging department as part of the project.
The work will result in additional capacity and an enhanced patient experience, positioning the hospital to support growing volumes and meet the needs of the community in the years ahead.
